Here is our fifth interview for the In Session series, a space where we get to know more about Wavezoo DJs. This time we are pleasured to know more about Philippe Creytens, and aspiring musician & full blown DJ with a tremendous amount of passion for music and eye to detail.
1. How did you start DJing? Tell us about your origins
I started by trying to create my own mixes to listen to while working. It annoyed me that music was constantly cut by the end and start of new tracks and I wanted to have aflow of music during my work.
Additionally, I was hired by Tomorrowland to work on some of their IT infrastructure, this gave me a great insight into the DJ & music world and fueled my passion.
2. Who would you say are your influences?
Paul Kalkbrenner is insane on stage as he does everything live, but not only he is an inspiration, I find, as a DJ, Armin Van Buuren the workhorse and biggest inspiration you can get. He delivers time and time again, travels, produces music & his mixing is off the chart.
My goal is to see him live at least once a year and if it wasn’t for covid, I would have managed 8 years in a row.
3. What do you think about the future of DJing? Where we are headed?
The future’s looking brighter than ever. New technology brings new possibilities and, as a geek, I can’t wait to properly work with AI-fueled stem separation in my music. This will bring live mixing to a whole different level.
4. What can people expect from your shows?
They can expect a party. A DJ that can deliver the type of music they want. My mainfocus is electronic styled music but I also branch out into the 80’s, 90’s and have aspecial place in my heart for Electro Swing. What they should not expect is Schlager-styled music.

5. What would be your ideal party and what would be your top tracks?
My ideal party is to start off with some deep, melodic house, move over into techhouse and then slowely bring up the heat of the party.
Throw in a bunch of mashups toget the crowd going even more and turn up the volume to finish of with some whopping acid techno, psytrance or Future Rave.
6. Help other DJs to level up, give the community a tip that will improve other DJs performance
I have a lightshow going on when I am DJing, my entire room is lit with light moving to the beat. Furthermore I use 3 Decks, connected through an external audio card to provide the best possible sound quality for the audience. All this is streamed of a Macbook M1 using an ethernet cable to ensure the lowest possible latency.
7. Let the people know what is going on in your life
I just released my latest EP, Travel, and I am planning on playing at a ton of clubs in 2023 and festivals in the upcoming summer.
Also a 2nd EP ison the horizon for Q2 of 2023.
I am excited for Wavezoo to come out of it’s Beta and be launched into the world. Itwill be a whole new experience for people to organise parties and it will bring nothing butmusic into the world, which is always a good thing.
